The Stacey Community Association is
made up of volunteers, who are either local residents, people who come
to a group here at the centre and people who are generally interested
in the Stacey centre, anyone can join the Association please ask at
the office for the next meeting date, they meet on a monthly basis on
the 1st Wednesday evening of the month at 7pm.
If anyone is interested in
volunteering we have many opportunities, these include gardening in
our 'community orchard', this project is in partnership with
Portsmouth City Council Healthy Towns project, we have a community
gardener and volunteers (with green fingers) who are working really
hard to make this project possible. If anyone would like to help in
the garden they would be more than welcome to come along, tools,
gloves, tea & coffee all provided.
The centre is always in need of
painting, anyone with painting & decorating, DIY skills or similar
would also be very welcome to come along and share their skills, we
can provide all the equipment you need to do the job as long as you
have the time.
The Stacey Friday Club is a social
evening for people over 16 years old with physical and learning
disabilities, the club is a popular evening with an average attendance
of 80 people a week, the club runs from 6pm-9pm the evening consists
of playing games, arts & craft, music & dancing, playing skittles,
football, darts, pool, we have a tuck shop and canteen facilities, the
bar is open from 7.30pm-11pm. We have a disco once a month from
7pm-10pm. We are always looking for more volunteers to help with the
various activities during the evening including arts & crafts, playing
board games, helping behind the bar, generally chatting to everyone.
Volunteers are very important
because if there aren't enough; clubs like this can't carry on
providing this much needed service. If you would like to help please
pop along on a Friday evening and see what goes on!
